John Keith is a graduate of the Vancouver Community College TESOL program and is a long-time instructor at Vancouver Community College and at BCIT in Vancouver, British Columbia. For BCIT John was instrumental in developing a number of courses and other ventures: Comm 0030 - Oral Fluency for Business and Technical Communication, COMM 0031 - Oral Fluency for Health Sciences, COMM 0032 - Advanced Oral Fluency Techniques, COMM 1074 - Oral Communication Skills for Med Lab, COMM 0061 - Specialized English Training, BCIT Spoken English Assessment, Oral Communication Assessment for Med Lab, Communication Language Lab, Communication Learning Centre, Online Fluency Applications, and the Tech Writer's Blog. John was nominated for BCIT's Employee Excellence Award for Innovative Teaching with Technology (2006). For VCC, John created the Pronunciation Teacher's On-line Resources Moodle site, and on-line resource templates for all English Language Pronunciation courses. John has also made many presentations conducted many workshops about on-line technology and learning, including the Copy'n'Paste HTML Workshop.
John is also an actor, director, and playwright. He and his wife, Patricia Andrew, are co-founders of Vancouver's Evergreen Theatre, which produced 40 plays from 1983 to 2000 and was nominated for over 20 Jessie Richardson Awards. In the year 2000, Pat and John received a Jessie Richardson Career Achievement Award. John's plays include Tom's View, Take Two, The Daly Dump, and Jericho Pier. John writes original on-line audio articles for In a Word: All About English Vocabulary and for the Listening Exercises at John Keith Communications.
