Beacon Hill Park
This beautiful park is just a few minutes walk south along Douglas Street from downtown. It has fantastic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains in Washington State.

The James Bay neighbourhood, just south of the Inner Harbour, and Fairfield, north of Beacon Hill Park, have many beautiful Victorian-style homes. They are lovely places to walk and get a feel of the "very British" city of Victoria.Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
You can see the work of Emily Carr, as well as contemporary, historical and Asian works. There is also a Japanese garden and the only Shinto Shrine in North America. The AGGV has the largest public collection of art in B.C. To get there, take Bus Number 11 Uplands or 14 University to Fort and Moss. The Art Gallery is at 1040 Moss Street, telephone 250-384-4101.
Art Gallery of Greater VictoriaCraigdarroch Castle Historical Museum
The "rags to riches" millionaire Robert Dunsmuir built this impressive mansion in 1889. You can walk from downtown in about 45 minutes along Courtney Street and beautiful Rockland, or take a bus, Routes 11 Uplands or 14 University along Fort Street. The Castle is at 1050 Joan Crescent, telephone 250-592-5323.
Craigdarroch CastleRockland
"Rockland", Rockland Street, east of downtown, is said to be the most beautiful street in Victoria. You can take a bus to visit the Art Gallery, Craigdarroch Castle, and perhaps Government House where the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia lives. Then you could walk back downtown along beautiful Rockland Street.
Rockland Walking TourOak Bay
East of downtown, this is Victoria's most "British" neighbourhood. Walk around and see beautiful Tudor-style homes and imagine you're in England. There's also fine shops in the area and tea-rooms for having English "afternoon tea". Take the Number 2 Oak Bay/Gonzales Bus.

You can take a 45 minute guided tour of this replica of Shakespeare's wife's cottage. Find out about Shakespearean lifestyles and learn old expressions used in modern English language. The Olde England Inn is also a small hotel with a lovely dining room where you can have an English style dinner or afternoon tea, and there's also a lounge where you can get a drink. Take Bus 25 Munro to Lampson and Greenwood. The Olde England Inn is at 429 Lampson Street, telephone 250-388-4353.

Butchart Gardens is a wonderful place to visit in any season of the year. It has many quiet walks around the 130 acre country estate, but there are also restaurants, stores, entertainment, and every Saturday night in July and August, there is even fireworks! The gardens are part of many guided tours in and around Victoria, or you can take a transit bus there as well. The gardens are 21 kilometres north of Victoria.
