You can travel to most places in the Victoria area by bus. Buses run seven days a week, usually from about 6 a.m. until midnight. You can pay by cash or tickets or you can use passes. These are available in many stores all over Victoria. Fares are $2.50 to go anywhere in the Victoria Regional Transit System. You can save money by buying sheets of 10 tickets or buying a day pass. A one month pass is $80.

If you need to use more than one bus to get to your destination, ask the bus driver for a transfer. Transfers are "valid" for 60 minutes, which means you can ride transit buses for one hour after you pay your fare.

On Victoria buses, after 7 p.m., there is a "Request-A-Stop" service. If you don't feel safe getting off the bus at a regular stop, you can ask the driver to let you off closer to where you are going. You must ask the driver at least one stop in advance, and then you should get off by the front doors of the bus. B.C. Transit has an excellent on-line guide to Victoria Buses at
