Weather and Clothing
Victoria is at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, across the Strait of Georgia from the mainland. It has the mildest climate in Canada, and gets less rain than Vancouver in the winter. It doesn't get too hot in the summer, nor too cold in the winter because it is beside the ocean. In a year, Victoria gets an average of 2,196 hours of sunshine, and its summers are warm and dry.

You need a good windbreaker in the fall and spring, and for cool evenings in the summer. In the winter you need a warm coat, hat, boots, gloves, a scarf and, of course, your umbrella or rain jacket. It occasionally snows in the winter, but the snow never lasts very long on the ground.
